Smart Babies: Tools To Stimulate Their Minds E-mail

Many parents want to give their babies a head start in developing mentally because they learned that this will affect their baby's future learning ability and school performance.

According to Christopher P. Lucas, MD, director of the Early Childhood Service at the NYU Child Study Center and associate professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine "What occurs during the first five years of life can have an enormous impact on not only how well the baby's brain develops at the moment, but how well that baby learns and grows throughout their lifetime".

For this, parents use a variety of tools to foster their baby's brain development.

Two of the tools available online are the Baby Can Read suite and the GeniusMaker eCourse. These toys and tools are only very effective when using them involves loving interaction with parents. You are not supposed to leave the baby alone to play with them. They are not like some videos that claim to make your baby smart by just letting your baby watch the videos.

  1. The purpose of Your Baby Can Read is to advance your baby's reading during the period when it is the most natural time to learn language. Dr. Titzer, the creator of the product cites studies that suggest that the earlier your baby is taught to read, the better she will read and the more she will enjoy reading.

"Experiences that have emotional content and human interaction are what is pleasurable and meaningful to a baby. They act like glue for their memory, helping them to retain what they are picking up and learning," says Nina Sazer O'Donnell, director of National Strategies for Success By 6, a United Way of America learning initiative.
