age appropriate shows - 2007/07/18 07:59 I know that too much tv isn't raising a smart kid, but I think now and again a little tv is a nice treat.

My kids favorite show is called Mustard Pancakes. It's kind of Mr. Rogers like, very wholesome and actually teaches kids about life and friendship, and isn't sugary or fake. They behave to make sure they get to see Mustard Pancakes each week.

Re:age appropriate shows - 2007/07/18 16:54 I agree, some TV can be good. It's when it steals time from their playing and socializing, that's when it becomes bad. When too much, they become zombies with eyes glued at the TV, which paves the way for them to be couch potatoes when they grow up.

We don't have Mustard Pancakes here in Canada. We have Treehouse TV, full of great shows that kids love and teach positve values like Bernstein Bear, Elmo's World, and of course Dora (although my personal favorite is Wonderpets!) It's on 24 hours too (go figure).

The trick is to make sure they spend just enough time...

Re:age appropriate shows - 2007/07/31 08:19 I couldn't agree more. Treehouse tv sounds like something my kids would love. Although since I live in LA, Mustard Pancakes on PBS is what my kids watch as well. I think its fabulous how educational this program really is and it truly expresses proper manners and teaches family values.
